A YOUNG woman has branded ‘mick-taking’ Donald Trump souvenirs sold in a Kendal shop ‘shameful.’

Hattie Green, from Kendal, said she was browsing Kendal’s shops when she came across items including Donald Trump ‘Poo-heads’ and ‘fake news’ stickers at retailer Neon Sheep, who stock the items as well as many other retailers across the country.

“Everyone has an opinion and I think it’s a bit petty,” said Miss Green, who is a student at the Queen Elizabeth School.

“I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I am aware of the increasing amount of criticism levelled at Donald Trump, but surely those in opposition can give their reasons without feeling the need to resort to primary school tactics of drawing poo heads.

“Why is an election that has the potential to impact the whole world, being belittled to a childish dispute of ‘I don’t like you’ ?

“What happened to maturity? What happened to respect?”

Miss Green expressed her concerns that souvenirs depicting the American president, such as the ones sold at Neon Sheep, are influencing people’s opinions and that ‘childish antics’ should not be tolerated.

“It brings to mind the question why are people so anti-Trump?” she said.

“Do they have legitimate logical reasons or are they forming their opinions on what opinion has the most likes on social media?

“Is this constant stream of mick-taking souvenirs influencing our opinions by constantly representing Trump as a joke?

“All I’m asking is that people form their opinions through thorough research and maturely hearing both sides of the story, I don’t think we should tolerate name calling, mick-taking and childish antics.”

The 17-year-old has spoken to family and friends who she says have also agreed the products are 'disrespectful'.

“Whatever your opinion I think many will agree that this is shameful,” added Miss Green.

Neon Sheep were unable to comment as the Gazette went to press.
