SATURDAY marked International Red Panda Day, 2020, and we celebrated in style with a series of LIVE videos from our Red Panda enclosure focussing on all things panda – from facts to diets, to habitats and enrichment, conservation, threats and the work of the Red Panda Network.

We asked visitors to allow us to donate their admissions money (both prepaid and paid on the day) to the Red Panda Network, we collected via donation buckets, visitors got involved with drawing competitions and a zoo trail to highlight the endangered status of Red Pandas in the wild.

At the end of the day we totted up the donations and through your generous donations we raised a whopping £9574.95 for the Red Panda Network which will renew our sponsorship of Forest Guardian Bishal Gurung for at least two years and enable us to support at least one of the many projects the RPN are looking for financial support for currently.

Stay tuned for confirmation of which projects will be funded by these generous donations from our visitors.

We put a call out this week to all Teachers and educators as we know how difficult it is going to be to organise trips this year. Our daily LIVES will continue throughout the Autumn and Winter months so please let us know the subjects you would like us to cover in our lives and our live team will put something together just for you guys. Education is the only way we get to change the future. #notallclassroomshavewalls

We were joined by two very special guests recently! Our followers throughout lockdown will remember Alfie and Zach, the bike riding brothers who were clocking up miles and raising money for the Safari Zoo residents at the same time. Well the boys did good, raising a whopping £384 by cycling 237 miles during lockdown. The boys met Kim, Michael and (arguably more importantly ) critically endangered Kordofan Giraffes Kofi and Ekundayo and had a behind the scenes tour to meet their favourite residents.
