A SHOP in Kendal town centre sold out of special anniversary vinyl stock within three minutes of opening.

Brian Cannon, who owns Kendal’s Microdot Boutique said he bought 75 silver vinyls of the hit Oasis album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its release.

Mr Cannon, who designed and featured on, the album cover for (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? signed each one to mark the occasion.

He said: “To celebrate the anniversary we did a special sale in the shop and online and decided to sell a silver vinyl of the album, which I signed and within three minutes we sold out.

“It is absolutely bonkers, Oasis have not done anything for over 10 years, but they are massive and Friday just proves that they are still huge.”

After meeting Noel Gallagher in a lift, Mr Cannon revealed that the two agreed to work with each other after the Manchester musician was impressed with the artwork he produced for The Verve.

The album, which sat at the top of the UK Albums Chart for 10 weeks was instrumental in the band’s stardom and success.

Despite this, Mr Cannon himself admits he did not foresee the huge impact that the album later had for the Manchester band and still listens to it to this day.

He said: “I do not think anybody at the time would have had a clue at the time how big it would become.

“I would be lying to you if I said at the time: ‘This will be massive'.

“I still listen to the album, I had (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? on in my house the other day dead loud, I absolutely love it!” Mr Cannon's shop on New Shambles.
