Despite the Coronavirus pandemic, individuals, communities and schools have kept busy and have still submitted projects, stories and photographs to Cumbria in Bloom’s annual competition.

In order to celebrate this year’s entries, which has seen 50 projects being submitted as well as numerous photos and stories describing what people have being doing during lockdown, an award ceremony will be held online.

Certificates will be awarded via a Zoom meeting on October 22, to which all recipients will be invited to attend.

The highlight will be the announcement of Exceptional Effort Awards by the Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, Claire Hensman as follows:

*Outstanding Community Participation - Variety of Projects in a Community

*Village Gardens - Individual Initiative - School Gardening

*Resilience in Difficult times - Wildlife Projects

*Photographs

Each of the Exceptional Effort Award recipients will receive a framed certificate and a £50 garden voucher.
