A DOCTORS surgery has revealed that a member of staff has tested positive for Coronavirus.

Ash Trees Surgery in Carnforth reported last night that a member of their admin team had tested positive for the virus, after taking a test on Saturday.

The surgery, having completed contact tracing procedures, has isolated three clinicians and 19 admin staff.

Ash Trees, in a statement on their Facebook page, assured the public that no patients are involved in the outbreak.

In the statement a spokesman said: "No patients are involved in the outbreak and no patients have been put at risk.

"For this week and next week our Carnforth phones will be minimally staffed and we ask that patients seek help from NHS111 and pharmacies for less urgent enquiries and only contact the practice if you require urgent care from our clinicians.

"The vast majority of our clinicians remain available to speak to you and see you as needed, but we may take longer to answer the phone."

The surgery thanked the public for their "continued support and understanding."
