THE latest coronavirus figures from NHS England have reported that University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust has had two deaths so far this week.

October 19 and October 20 both recorded a death at the trust. This brings the total death at Morecambe Bay Trust up to 201 as of 5pm on Wednesday October 21.

At the time of writing, South Lakeland has a total of 124 confirmed Covid cases according to the updated weekly data from Gov.uk.

This number is down 32 (20.5 per cent decrease) from the last recorded dataset, and slightly below the national average.

Cumbria as a whole has had 721 confirmed cases of Covid-19 which is an increase of 109 (17.8 per cent) according to Gov.uk.

NHS England guidance states: "Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure."

Only deaths that occur in hospitals where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 are recorded, with deaths in the community excluded, such as those in care homes.
