THE local pub is more than just a watering-hole.
It's the heart of our community. So in its honour The Mail has taken a trip down memory lane to see why Ulverston residents love their locals so much.
Andrea Wilson, the landlady at the Old Friends pub in Ulverston showed why fundraising was a key role of the local. She raised cash for Croftlands Youth Club.
Other venues have also gone above and beyond to help their local communities.
Diners at The General Burgoyne in Great Urswick were able to pay whatever they thought their meal was worth at a charity night.
