Milnthorpe Square has recently welcomed a new and exciting culinary addition to its ranks.

Nikita’s Bistro opened its doors on September 1 and is going from strength to strength with its tasty offerings of home baked cakes, breakfasts, brunches, lunches and themed dinner nights.

"We're quite a bubbly business," said owner Nikita Fairchild, who lives in Milnthorpe.

"We offer all sorts from breakfast to scones and brownies.

"I've got twelve types of brownies.

"I do occasion cakes as well and we have a market stall on a Friday in the Square selling all the cakes and soon we'll be selling jams and chutneys."

The businesswoman said it had always been a dream of hers to open her own establishment, having worked in the hospitality industry her whole working life.

“I’ve always wanted my own place,”she said.

“I’ve been in the business since I was 16 and I’ve worked for various places in the North Yorkshire area.

“It was always a matter of getting the money together and the premises.”

Ms Fairchild has said business has been going very well, with lots of customers leaving positive reviews online.

“It’s been really good, everyone has loved it," she said.

"We've had good reviews on Tripadvisor and Facebook."

As well as the usual daytime service every Friday night the bistro is transformed for one of its themed nights, which have so far proved extremely popular with spaces being completely booked up.

During October customers were whisked away on a Spanish food journey where they could sample tapas and sangria, next month will see the nights turn Mexican.

"In October it has been tapas and sangria and in November it is going to be a Tex-Mex theme," said Ms Fairchild.

"There'll be loads of sharers that night, chicken fajitas, fish tacos, nachos, with a few tequila cocktails.

"We've been full every night."
