A NEW film festival is coming to Marlborough next year.

Celebrating independent film from around the globe, the Ignite team is bringing a major five-day event to the Marlborough Downs aims to bring together filmmakers and film lovers in a scenic setting.

There are four consecutive evenings of screenings in a big-top cinema, which is a high-tech traditional-style cinema in a circus-style marquee.

The final day will feature a red carpet gala awards night which will see the top-selected films awarded with handcrafted trophies created by a local business using sustainable materials.

The Ignite Film Festival is the brainchild of film production company Firebird Films' owners Ross and Amelia Mackenzie as well as film festival judge Billy Rees.

A spokesman said: "Our sole aim is to create an event that will stand out from other film festivals.

"The vital elements to making a great film event for audiences and filmmakers alike are a true cinematic experience to showcase the submitted films, a unique location that allows the festival to grow each year, an exceptional standard of films, large audiences, respected judges, and a networking event to promote creativity."

The event will be on the Temple Farm estate from Tuesday June 29 to Saturday July 3.
