The temptation of delicious home-made cakes proved too much for residents of Storth, who turned out in force to support a socially distanced outdoor ‘Make and Cake Sale’ that raised £1,267.09 for charity Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

The two-hour event, held outside the village church last week, was organised by retired village school headmistress Alison Charlesworth and members of Rosemere Cancer Foundation Dallam Supporters Group – all veterans of Storth’s pop-up café, which supported the Silverdale Arts Trail a couple of years ago, and of a Ritz style afternoon tea that ran for a number of years also in support of Rosemere.

As well as cakes, there was a craft stall, which sold Rosemere Cancer Foundation Christmas cards. There was also a tombola and a raffle.

Dallam group member Lesley Drummond said: “We had such lovely comments from people, who supported the event.

"They told us they were so glad to be out and doing something almost normal!”

The charity works to bring world class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients from South Cumbria and Lancashire being treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre, the region’s specialist cancer treatment and radiotherapy centre at the Royal Preston Hospital, and at another eight local hospital cancer units across the two counties.
