A SECOND lockdown will not stop a multi-award winning filmmaker from sharing his final love letter to the Lake District.

Acclaimed filmmaker Terry Abraham is turning to the internet for the premiere of the final instalment in his “Life of a Mountain” trilogy, each a soaring tribute to the beauty and the power of Lake District fells.

This third instalment will feature Helvellyn, after previous films featured Scafell Pike and then Blencathra.

With the renewal of lockdown conditions scuppering the chance for an in-person gathering for its premiere, the film will this Saturday instead be premiered via the internet, through the London Mountain Film Festival.

Streaming from 9am on Saturday until 9am on Monday, anyone keen to catch the first sight of the film can do so for £7 (or for free to London Mountain Film Festival members).

The film promises to be a success, following on from the earlier two instalments, released in 2015 and 2017 to critical acclaim from the likes of The Times, The Observer and the Radio Times.

Both instalments in the trilogy were featured on BBC television.

This final “love letter to Lakeland” features contributions from “household names, locals and visitors alike”.

A self-taught filmmaker and photographer with a passion for the outdoors, Terry took to filmmaking with great success after being made redundant from his IT role several years ago.

Terry is also promoting a 'blind' auction with a number of unique lots throughout November. It will raise money for charities the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Association and Friends of the Lake District. Visit friendsofthelakedistrict.org.uk for more.
