FORTY SEVEN people tested positive for coronavirus yesterday in Basingstoke and Deane, the government has been confirmed.

The latest data released by the government confirms that their positive tests were reported yesterday (Saturday, November 14).

It means that 276 people have tested positive for the virus in the last seven days in the borough - which is 51 higher than the seven day period before that (up 22.7 per cent).

Yesterday, there was one death in Basingstoke and Deane within 28 days of a positive case.

In the last seven days, four people have died within four weeks of having a positive Covid-19 test, which is the same as the seven day period beforehand.

The latest data means that the coronavirus 'rate' for Basingstoke and Deane - the number of people that have tested positive per 100,000 of the population - is 133.6.

That's below the UK rate, which is at 247.6.

Across the country, 26,860 new positive cases were recorded yesterday.
