THE two-day annual sale of Swaledale tups at Hawes at the end of last month saw some frantic bidding and a top price of 38,000gns.
Altogether 26 tups hit the five-figure mark and averages rose £290 on the year to £2,322. Sale leader was Fawcett’s Cowboy from Graham Scarr, Garsdale. He was sired by the £14,000 Aygill Imperial bought back in 2015 and out of a Helbeck sired ewe. Taking Cowboy home was a trio of breeders: Trevor and Bobby Blades, and John Bradley.
