A WIDOWER is auctioning over 50 items to raise money for two charities linked to his wife who died over five years ago.

Bill Taylor is raising funds for St John’s Hospice and the Motor Neurone Disease Association, with the auction closing 6pm this Sunday (November 22).

"Eileen had Motor Neurone Disease and was cared for by St John’s Hospice during the last few days of her life," said Mr Taylor.

"Their care meant that she was able to die with dignity. Since losing Eileen I have been fund raising for various charities including MNDA and the hospice.

“Like all charities the hospice has suffered because of the current pandemic and I thought this was a way of helping,” added Bill.

1818 Auctioneer’s Bill Nelson says Bill Taylor is a much-loved figure in the auction room and has amassed quite a collection of items over the years.

Mr Nelson said: “We’re delighted to be holding this one-off fundraiser for Bill’s two charities. There are 53 lots in total, with many unusual tribal and African pieces. From palaver chairs, a large standing ethnic wood-carved head, to a selection of early 20th-century tea caddies, spears and walking canes.”
