ROAD safety has been highlighted at South Lakeland schools this week thanks to a multi-agency presence at pick-up and drop-off times.
Members of Cumbria's police and fire services have been raising awareness of issues such as inappropriate parking and the dangers of crossing roads without care.
Officers have also been encouraging children to take safety precautions, such as ensuring they use appropriate crossing points.
Among the locations that have seen an emergency service presence as part of national Road Safety Week are Kendal, Levens, Windermere and Milnthorpe.
Jamie Coward, station manager at Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, said: “From our point of view, if we can stop someone from having an accident, that lessens the impact on the NHS, that lessens the impact on our resources.”
