Man admits riding motorbike dangerously on A590

A MAN has admitted driving a motorbike dangerously on the A590.

Connor Broadbent, 20, is due to be sentenced after he admitted riding the KTM 350 bike on the A590 near Ulverston while disqualified.

The defendant also accepted that he breached a suspended sentence previously handed down after he led a police pursuit on a quad bike.

South Cumbria Magistrates' Court heard that Broadbent committed the offences on November 16.

The court was told that Broadbent drove the bike dangerously at Haverthwaite Junction, Rusland crossroads and Finsthwaite and failed to stop for a police officer.

Barrow man, 22, denies assaulting woman

A MAN has denied assaulting a woman.

David Paul Sandham is alleged to have assaulted the woman causing actual bodily harm on November 17.

The 22-year denied the charge when he appeared before the bench at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court.

The defendant, of Titchfield Street in Barrow, was remanded on bail is due to stand trial.

He is due to appear at Preston Crown Court on December 18 ahead of the trial.

Man accused of being passenger in car taken without consent

A MAN has appeared in court to deny taking a vehicle without its owner's consent.

Daniel Nigel Miller, 32, is accused of allowing himself to be a passenger in a Vauxhall Astra said to have been taken without its owner's permission.

South Cumbria Magistrates' Court heard the offence was allegedly committed in Barrow on August 18 2019.

The defendant, of Lytham Road in Blackpool, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before the court.

He was remanded on bail and is due to appear for a hearing on January 18.

Man to be sentenced for drug offence

A MAN is due to be sentenced at a crown court after he admitted drug offences.

Joel Noon, 29, of Staveley, admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply between October 29 and November 30 last year.

He will be sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court on December 21.

Kendal man sentenced after assault

A MAN has been sentenced to a curfew after he admitted assault.

Paul Crawford, 36, of Westwood Avenue in Kendal, assaulted Samuel Woods on August 29.

At South Cumbria Magistrates' Court, the defendant was handed a 7pm to 6am curfew for 16 weeks.

Crawford was also told to pay £150 compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

Court sentences Barrow woman for assault and damaging glasses

A WOMAN has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after she was convicted of assault and damaging reading glasses.

Alanna-Jane Wooldridge, 19, admitted that she assaulted Lorraine Jacques on August 15 and damaged her £150 glasses.

At South Cumbria Magistrates' Court, the defendant, of Brook Street in Barrow, was sentenced to 150 hours' unpaid work and told to pay £314.50 compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and costs of £85.

A590 drug driver banned from the road

A DRUG driver has been banned from the road.

Jon-joe James Verity, 27, admitted that he had cannabis in his system when he drove on the A590 near Haverthwaite on April 29.

The defendant, of Binfold Croft in Kirkby Lonsdale, also admitted possessing cannabis.

At South Cumbria Magistrates' Court, he was banned from driving for 14 months.

Barrow woman accused of assaulting paramedic

A WOMAN accused of assaulting a paramedic is due to stand trial.

Dawn Michelle Goodwin, 51, of Egerton Court in Barrow, denies assaulting Edward Pitt-Chambers on August 26.

The defendant is due to appear at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court on December 18 ahead of trial and has been bailed.

 Broughton drink driver more than double the limit on A595 handed ban

A DRINK driver found to be more than double the legal limit has been handed a curfew and a lengthy ban from the road.

Matthew Cook, 29, admitted to driving while over the limit for alcohol when he appeared before the bench at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court.

The court heard Cook, of Griffin Street in Broughton, had 85 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - over the limit of 35 - when he drove his Fiat on the A595 on October 16.

He was sentenced to a curfew keeping him at home between 7pm and 7am for five weeks.

The defendant was also banned from driving for 20 months.

Cook was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and costs of £85.
