THE stone carving of the large letter “B” above Burton’s the tailor’s shop in Stricklandgate.
The whole of the inscription reads “Montague Burton The Tailor of Taste”
Stood on this site until 1934, was the towns most prominent hotel the King’s Arms Hotel. It had it’s first floor bedrooms over a number of the shops, one of which was here at number 12, T. Beesley Hosier, demolished in 1934.
