HARRY Potter fans are set to be charmed by a pub's new wizard-inspired concoction.

Ye Olde Fleece Inn, in Highgate, Kendal has launched the region's very first butter beer - just in time for the festive period.

Owners Chris Moss and Josh Macaulay, who reopened the business in March last year after a nearly £1m renovation project, felt inspired to create a festive beverage guaranteed to bring a much-needed boost after the second lockdown.

Mr Macaulay said: "We launched cocktails a few months ago and they've gone down an absolute storm

"We always review and adapt our menu to keep it fresh, interesting and exciting.

"We thought why not do something a bit out there and Harry Potter inspired so decided on butter beer.

"As a concept, it's fantastic. Coming into Christmas and winter, it's a perfect time to launch the drink."

The butter beer is sticking to its magical roots and following the Harry Potter recipe.

"It's a traditional butter beer recipe, with butterscotch, ale flavours, a cream top and caramel," Mr Macaulay said.

"It looks really great and feels like you're in the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade when you're drinking it.

"We're serving two versions, the adult version which is alcoholic and an alternative to mulled wine for people who want to come in and have a festive drink.

"And there's also a kids version which is non alcohol and has creamy butterscotch flavours."

The owners wanted to launch something 'new and different' for their potential reopening on Wednesday.

Mr Macaulay said: "It's supposed to be fun and different.

"We've all been apart for so long so it's a new experience for people to do and tastes great."

Ye Olde Fleece Inn is hoping to launch its new beverage next Wednesday depending on tier restrictions.
