THE number of coronavirus deaths passed 300 at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust in the latest 24-hour period, official figures show. NHS England figures show 301 people had died in hospital at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust as of 5pm on Thursday. That was an increase of six compared to Wednesday, when there were 295. It means there have been 24 deaths in the past week, up from 19 the previous week. The victims were among 7,967 deaths recorded across the North West, which is the second-worst affected of England's seven NHS regions after the midlands. Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death. This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the latest period may actually have taken place days earlier.
