BARROW'S MP has been asking for nominations from residents of Barrow and Furness for the Openreach Community Connector Awards, and has now made his choice. Nominations have been open via the MP’s website over recent weeks and dozens of local people have written in, nominating their local community champions. Commenting on the volume of applications, Mr Fell said: “The response has been incredible. It reinforces what so many of us already know – we live in a fantastic place with amazing people, who go above and beyond.” After careful consideration, the MP chose Mr Kevin McGoldrick, headteacher at of St Pius X School, as his nomination for the award. “It was extremely difficult to pick a single person to put forward out of the many, many nominations which came in," Mr fell said.

"In the end I chose Kevin because of his dedication to his school, his colleagues, pupils and their families, and his local community during the health crisis. So many people wrote in to nominate Kevin, saying some truly lovely things about him.” Mr Fell has submitted the nomination to Openreach who sponsor the award and a decision on the overall winners is expected to be made in the New Year.
