A BARROW youngster has received an award for her inspiring social media videos.

Six-year-old Pippah Webber was named the Young Sports Leader/ Volunteer of the Year at the 2020 Cumbria Sports Awards.

Pippah’s dad Dan Webber revealed how the two felt after Manchester City footballer Georgia Stanway announced the winner.

The Mail:

“It is absolutely fantastic,” said Mr Webber.

“Pippah is just absolutely ecstatic.

“She has worked so hard since March and it is just brilliant to see that she has achieved something after putting in so much effort."

Since the Coronavirus pandemic started, Pippah has been spreading positivity through her Facebook page, The Diary of a Running Girl.

The Mail:

After joining her dad on a run in March, Pippah and Mr Webber began posting videos of their runs on Facebook.

The videos received a fantastic response, which led to them starting the ‘Feeling Good, Feeling Great’ bootcamp.

Taking place at Ormsgill’s Emergency Food Hub, the bootcamp provides free physical activity sessions for children in Barrow and are all led by Pippah herself.

Mr Webber explained: “During the runs and videos we have tried to bring a bit of positivity to the town, doing silly challenges and trying to make people laugh.

“The response has been fantastic and we have set up a free bootcamp for the community on Sunday mornings.

The Mail:

“We get 10 to 15 kids who attend regularly and parents have acknowledged that they have seen an improvement in their kid’s behaviour and mood.”

In addition to this, Pippah has provided workouts, created art competitions and organised the ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me Run Challenge’ for Mental Health Awareness Week.

Mr Webber added: “Pippah likes to make people smile and feel happy.

“She has just got that character, this sums her up really.”

As part of her award, Pippah has received a voucher from New Balance for new trainers.

Mr Webber revealed: “She has not decided what she wants yet, but something with leopard print is definitely on the cards.”
