AN INVESTIGATION is under way following the report that a man made racially aggravated comments at a Lake District pub.
Police said the 'racially aggravated public order offence' occurred at The Coniston Inn.
The man was reported to be around 6ft tall, in his forties and wearing shorts and a blue hooded top.
A spokesman from The Coniston Inn said: “We take a zero-tolerance to any form of abusive or racial behaviour towards our customers or staff. We will be doing all we can to assist in investigations for this incident which was not reported to staff until after the alleged offender had left our premises.”
Cumbria Constabulary has today appealed for witnesses to get in touch.
A constabulary spokesman said the incident occurred at around 8pm on October 20.
The spokesman said: "Anyone with information is encouraged to contact PC 2863 on 101, quoting incident number 7 of October 20.
"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
