A KENDAL Superstore says its business as usual despite reports of another retailer moving in.

Last month bosses at retail giant Lidl submitted plans to open up in the north east area of Kendal on Beezon Road.

Hannah Michael from developers Rapleys LLP in Manchester, who submitted the application to South Lakeland District Council on behalf of Lidl was unavailable to comment.

The original application to take over the Superstore site in Kendal by Lidl has been removed from the company’s website this morning.

Rob Connolly, Store manager for Homebase was relieved at the news.

He said: “We’re delighted to confirm our store isn’t closing now.”

“We’ve been open in Kendal for 15 years and I’m lucky to have such an experienced and knowledgeable team.”

“Many of my team have been here since the store opened, and as an essential retailer, we’re working hard to ensure we create a safe shopping environment for everyone.”

Homebase, one of the UK’s leading home improvement and garden retailers, remained open again today for business in Kendal despite the second Lockdown.
