THE unveiling locations of the road safety cameras in Cumbria has been questioned by members of the public.

Cumbria Police announced the positions of their cameras on social media.

The Police stated: "Today our Road Safety Camera vans will be operating in North Carlisle, the A689 Carlisle area, the A65 Lupton to Kendal, Kirkby-in-Furness and Ulverston."

Neil Anderson said: "The same way satnavs give away all the speed cameras, how is anyone ever going to get caught when you come out and tell everyone all about them. Who didn't think this threw exactly?"

Mina Young said: "Don't speed and you have nothing to fear. Until of course you go through the pain of losing someone close to you through a speeding driver. You will never realise the pain it brings when a Policeman knocks on your door."

Guy Mitch said: "Those cameras will be reprogrammed soon to catch drivers coming into a Tier 2 area from a Tier 3. Mark my words that's where the money will be. Mind how you go everyone."

Joe Mulligan said: "How are these meant to catch speeders again? Did someone put in a freedom of information request and were the Police silly enough to answer it truthfully?"

Callum Jones said: "I think at this point just about anyone can use a gadget to check on law breaking then the police will be first to use that gadget.

"It saves on confronting the lawbreaker. It can be dealt with by administrators. What more could they wish for while standing in the queue at McDonalds waiting for their pensions?"

John Murphy said: "So they are letting every law breaker know where they can and can't break the law. It may seem like only speeding but it's still illegal. What made the Police think this was a good idea?"

Sue Slater said: "This is just weird. They just made it easier to break the law surely?"
