PARTS of Cumbria and North Yorkshire have seen their first snowfall of the season.

Sprinkles of snow could be seen in Kendal, with Geoff Thould capturing white dusted hills in the town.

The M6 at Shap also saw a coating, with Highways England warning drivers to take extra care while driving in the icy conditions.

A spokesperson said:"Our first sprinkle of snow has fallen in the North West. The M6 Shap in Cumbria is looking very christmassy this morning.

"Our teams are working hard to ensure the network is maintained and safe. But please take extra care when driving during these icy conditions."
