MOUNTAIN rescuers were called after a walker became stuck in snow on steep ground on a Lake District fell.
They were forced to search for the woman on the Old Man of Coniston the 'old-fashioned way' after her phone battery died.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) dispatched three Land Rovers to take team members to the top after being notified of the incident at around 1.50pm yesterday.
A CMRT spokesman said: "In the event, she had retraced her steps back over the summit, but was then unable to find the way down in the snow.
"Some passing walkers guided her down before meeting up with searchers."
