A MAN from Cumbria has written a book documenting his life spent as a gardener.

'Born to Dig: A Gardener's Chronicle' is by David Haigh, who was born in Soulby, near Kirkby Stephen.

It is the debut novel by Mr Haigh, whose career took him to the 'plant lover's haven' of Kew Gardens in London.

Mr Haigh is now based at Castle Douglas in Scotland.
