HERE are the latest events and announcements from our Community News correspondent for Cartmel Ewen Cameron.

Covid-19 vaccinations for Cartmel Surgery patients continue at the Grange Health Centre staffed by all the local surgeries.

Vaccine supplies are also due to be issued to individual surgeries and housebound patients will be booked when delivery details are confirmed.

Patients are being offered appointments for vaccinations by texts and phone calls from Cartmel Surgery and by NHS letters.

They should note that text and phone appointments through surgery will be for Grange or Cartmel but bookings in response to the NHS letters may be at Ulverston or Kendal.

Patients may wish to opt for vaccination appointments at these further locations if they are available earlier than at the local centres.

However, please try to avoid double-booking as this will result in wasted doses.

THANKS to its prudent management of the Anne Rowbotham legacy, Cartmel Village Society has been able to provide financial support of over £100,000 for various local projects over the last ten years, whilst maintaining the capital value of the legacy.

Funded projects include: a stained-glass window and IT equipment for Cartmel Primary School; a defibrillator, IT, gym and outdoor classroom equipment for Cartmel Priory Secondary School; equipment for Cartmel Football Club; Christmas in Cartmel annual events; Jigsaw Children’s Hospice in Cumbria; Cartmel Priory festivals; Cartmel Township Initiative; the Conservation Area Management Plan; Cartmel in Bloom; the public toilets; and the Unsworth’s Yard defibrillator.

Further planned projects during the first half of 2021 include the full refurbishment of the village toilets, refurbishment of the fish slabs in the Square and a new bicycle rack in Devonshire Square.
