A COMPANY has revealed plans for a new premises in Kendal.

Last week, zero-waste company Another Weigh announced it will be moving from Blackhall Yard to the former Pomegranate and Sage unit on Wainwright’s Yard.

The company sells a variety of food items and toiletry products with an emphasis on plastic reduction, encouraging customers to use their own re-usable containers.

Its first store was opened in Penrith in 2019 by Zoe Hedges, husband and wife duo Chris and Emma Bray and their daughter Anne-Marie, with a Kendal store opening later that year.

“We completed our move into our bigger Penrith shop in December so we were looking to bring a larger shop to our Kendal customers as well,” said Ms Hedges.

“Since lockdown the shop has been open but for collections only because the shop is quite small.”

During the pandemic the company has been fulfilling click and collect orders, as well as delivering items to vulnerable residents.

“That only goes so far,” said Ms Hedges.

“It’s been hard on staff and customers so we have been on the lookout for a new shop in Kendal and the perfect one came up.

“We are already working on that to move over.”

Demand for the business’ services has continued to increase in the last few months.

“Kendal is quite an environmentally conscious town,” said Ms Hedges.

“I think our customers know how beautiful our environment is and that we need to protect it.”

The Wrainwright Yard unit is to receive a full transformation and update from the team, who will still operate at the Blackhall Yard shop until works are finished at the new premises.
