Ulverston Town Council is launching a number of projects to help support the town as it gets ready for spring with the anticipation of the easing of lockdown restrictions later in the year.
Local company Ulverclean have been engaged to steam clean all of Ulverston’s historic ginnels, including: Brazier Fells Yard, Lower Brook Street, Smith Courts, Buxton Mews, Queens Court and Bolton’s Place.
A shop front improvement scheme is also set to be completed, while there will be subsidised parking in Buxton Place Car Park to boost motorists visiting the town.
The town council is also spending £40,000 on refurbishing the Gill toilets.
Councillor Sharon Webster, the town's mayor, said: “ The town council is very pleased with all the projects that are coming together for early 2021 for the benefit of everybody.
"Times have been very difficult and as the weather gets warmer we look forward to an easing of lockdown."
