THE fifth generation of a Flookburgh family is taking the family’s name and reputation to new heights with their new business.

Paul Morris, 26, of Wraysholme Tower Farm in Flookburgh, began the The Wraysholme Creamery along with his father Steve in December 2020.

Despite only being in the young stages of their new venture, the business has received positive feedback from its customers and even caught the attention of Channel 5 for their upcoming series of ‘This Week on the Farm’.

The Flookburgh farmers have provided freshly made milk and ice cream to the public and have seen a successful trend of purchases throughout February.

The Morris family originally came to the farm in 1912 and continues to this day.

Paul said: “This is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I wanted it to be something a bit different. With the prices of milk today we wanted to offer people something new on a home-grown basis.

“We have diversified a lot with the way we do things and we’re cutting out the middle man so we can sell straight to the public.

“People are really getting an appetite for this type of produce now so we want them to get what they need.

“We were sold out of ice cream by the middle of February, which is a rare thing. It’s been mega since we started. We’ve been doing very well on the butter side as well. It’s all selling as quick as we can make it.

“We’ll be bringing out yoghurts in the next few weeks and we’ll be selling straight from the dairy.

“Recently people have been asking for ice cream on a cone so we will also be pushing that from this weekend.

“New projects, we’ll be using our new delivery bike to get out and about to get a home delivery service going, straight to the door step.

“We do click-and-order deliveries on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays. We are also open in person on Saturday between 10am and 9pm.

“We’ll be looking to make deliveries to Cartmel, Grange, Lindale and Flookburgh.”

On January 22, a film crew from Channel 5 paid a special visit to the farm to learn about the creamery for the new series of ‘This Week on the Farm’.

Paul also formerly worked as a host for Lake District Radio.

He added: “I just want to thank everyone who believed in us and to the regulars we see each week.

“We’re excited for the future and when the Lakes open up again, we’ll be waiting for the summer tourists with whatever they need.”
