LITTER bugs could be fined up to £2,500 in court if they are caught dropping rubbish.
Recycle for Cumbria is urging the public to bin any litter after seeing an increase in the amount of PPE discarded on the streetes.
A spokesman for Recycle Cumbria said: "Nationally, there has been an increase in the amount of PPE litter on the streets.
"Anyone who is caught dropping litter can be fined up to £80, or up to £2,500 if prosecuted in court.
"Please either put your litter in the bins provided in your local area or take it home."
