A KENDAL man accepted there would always be a ‘trace of what I’ve done’ in online news articles after he filmed himself sneaking into the set of a major soap opera.

Kain Hogg and a friend found their way into the fictional village of Hollyoaks at night on Monday.

In a video posted online, he and his friend can be seen wandering around the set.

At one point, they stop outside a room labelled as belonging to Jessica Fox, who plays Nancy in the popular Channel 4 soap opera.

Mr Hogg, who last year broke into The Queen Katherine School in Kendal with two other friends after hours, said he and his friend got into the Hollyoaks set ‘through the woods and over a decently-sized hedge’.

The 21-year-old accepted there would always be a record of his actions in news articles but that ‘it’s never stopped me from getting a job before’.

“Eventually I want to start my own company so it’s not really too big of an issue,” he said.

Mr Hogg travelled to Childwall, a suburb of Liverpool, where Hollyoaks is filmed, for the escapade.

He said the Hollyoaks stunt had been done previously by a ‘personal friend of mine’ who was a star of video sharing platform YouTube.

“I wanted to get in and explore the parts he didn’t. And I did,” said Mr Hogg.

“We explored the sets, the rooms where the actors get makeup done and security areas.

“Basically we looked at all the cool stuff you see from a television set.

“Security definitely knew somebody was in their site but, as for them ringing police, I am unsure, as we got out of the premises before seeing any security or police.

“There’s a high chance they were called.

“But the police stopped us about an hour later.

“Maybe they thought it was us but they never mentioned Hollyoaks.”

The end of the video sees Mr Hogg and his friend apparently confronted by police.

One of the pair announces that they are being searched.

The officer in the video says to the pair that they are in a ‘burglary hotspot, all dressed in black’.

Mr Hogg said he would prefer not to comment on family members’ opinions of his actions.

A spokeswoman for Hollyoaks said: “Hollyoaks have reported this breach of security to the police who are looking into the matter.”

Merseyside Police was contacted for comment but was unable to provide a statement before The Westmorland Gazette went to print.
