More than two-thirds of people in South Lakeland have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal.

NHS data shows 62,182 people had received a vaccine jab by April 18 – 69 per cent of those aged 16 and over, according to the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.

Of those vaccinated, 51,128 were aged 50 and over – 94 per cent of the age group. It means 11,054 people aged between 16 to 49 have received a first dose of the vaccine.

Grange and Cartmel have the highest coverage, as 77 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received their first dose. 74.9 per cent of people in Arnside, Milnthorpe and Holme have received their vaccine.

Kendal Town and Greenside have the lowest intake as 60.5 per cent have received a jab so far.
