HERE are the latest announcements from our community news correspondent Ed Welti for Sedbergh.

Captain Tom 100 Challenge is being under taken by Killington Sailing Association, who are setting out to complete 100 laps of Killington over the weekend of May 1st/2nd to raise money for the Captain Tom Foundation.

Friday 30 April would have been his 101st birthday and to honour him and his amazing achievements, we would love everyone, of all ages and abilities, to take part in the Captain Tom 100.

The Foundation is making a real difference to people's lives.

Our mission is to inspire hope. To help others see and believe there is always hope, however dark things may seem.

We are focused on three areas which were especially close to Captain Tom's heart: combating loneliness; championing education and equality; and continuing to support the NHS.

They do this through a blend of their own initiatives and by partnering with outstanding charities who are doing incredible work in these areas.

As well as raising money for causes Captain Tom cherished, the Foundation hopes to motivate a whole new generation of Captain Toms to ensure his message of hope becomes a lasting legacy.

If anyone would like to come along to Killington on Sunday May 2nd to sail or paddle some laps, you would be very welcome.
