CUMBRIA Police have urged parents to research ways in which they can help their children avoid potential online harms.
This comes as the coronavirus pandemic has led to the public, in particular children, spending more time online.
Cumbria Constabulary said: "With your child spending so much time online these days and the internet being relatively unregulated, you really do need to take the time to help them avoid the harms out there."
They urged parents to visit www.getsafeonline.org to get all the top tips on how to keep children safe.
Tips on the website include:
- Talk regularly with your child about the good and bad of the internet
- Apply parental control software
- Discuss boundaries
- Explain safe online searching.
