MULTIPLE emergency crews were called out to a South Lakeland town after a person suffered a broken ankle during a fall.

Police, the fire and rescue service and mountain rescue were all called out to the incident in Ambleside on Sunday evening.

A video from a passerby showed a mountain rescue team vehicle, two fire engines and a police van at the scene.

They were parked near The Apple Pie Cafe and Bakery in Rydal Road.

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews from Ambleside, Kendal and Windermere, as well as Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team, were called out 'to rescue a person' from Stock Beck.

The spokesman said the casualty sustained a broken ankle during the fall.

He said the casualty was treated by a mountain rescue team medic and members of the North West Ambulance Service.

A report from a member of the public suggested that the casualty had fallen off a bridge.

The member of the public said that the casualty was male and had fallen onto rocks next to the river.

The report said that the casualty was stretchered out.

Emergency services have been contacted for further information but have not yet responded.
