A CONSERVATION charity has organised an event at a Furness nature reserve during which the public will be able to undertake monitoring and surveying of sand dunes.
The fieldwork session at South Walney Nature Reserve on June 12 is being held by Cumbria Wildlife Trust (CWT).
A CWT spokesman said: "The training session will involve practise of basic navigation and dune plant identification skills.
"We will also run through each element of the long-term citizen science scheme, including measuring sand dune profile, zonation and vegetation surveys across the site to help us better conserve our sand dunes.
"We may look at recording some rarer species too!
"Volunteers will have the option of adopting an area of sand dune to individually undertake surveying once annually in future.
"All field equipment will be provided on the day."
The event begins at 10am and will run until 1pm. Visit the 'What's On' section of the CWT website to book.
