With countless colours, plenty of stunning outfits and a dash of music, primary school pupils had a ball learning about the wonderful faith of Buddhism.

Kirkland Academy is no stranger to unique and engaging lessons, and their interactive lesson on Buddhism certainly didn’t buck the trend.

Youngsters from as young as two years old took part in the fascinating lesson, welcoming visitors from Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism (BHS) Educational Workshops, who taught the pupils all about the Buddhist faith.

Everything from the life of religious figures to clothing and music was covered, with pupils even dressing up in the bright outfits to act out the life of the Buddha.

“We wanted to deepen the children’s understanding of Buddhism, and the traditions and way of life for a Buddhist,” head of school, Susan Rudd, said.

“It was an absolutely amazing day – some of the children were saying they had never seen such beautiful colours and clothes.

“I think their favourite part was wearing the different outfits and being able to dress up, and really get into the story of Buddha by acting it out. They all loved that, and staff all thought the day was just brilliant as well.”

With learning about other religions being key for the academy, it's safe to say the day was a roaring success.

Ms Rudd said: "It was a super experience, and such a lovely, relaxing day for the pupils, and staff, too.

"We all learnt a lot, not just the children, and we're so grateful to BHS for coming in and giving us all such a brilliant time."
