KENDAL CC tied with Fleetwood CC in a heavily rain affected afternoon at Shap Road.

The visitors were chasing a rain reduced total of 146, needed just one run to win.

However, Kendal captain Chris Miller trapped James Amor LBW with the visitors taking 11 points compared to Kendal’s nine.

Kendal who got the game underway at 1.30pm following a rain delay recovered from a perilous position of 101-8 thanks to a crucial ninth-wicket partnership of 44 between Richard Dakin and Kuldeep Singh to close on 156 off 45.1 overs.

Fleetwood won the toss and elected to field at Shap Road.

Kendal lost early wickets and were close to being bowled out for less than 100, but were indebted to Dakin and Singh.

With rain beginning to fall after the first innings, Kendal's total was reduced to 145, with Fleetwood's Jack Wilkinson finishing on four wickets and 36 runs.

Kendal made a good start in the second innings, reducing the visitors to 31-2.

Charlie Clark's knock saw Fleetwood recover onto 88, with Adam Sharrocks and Wilkinson adding 41 and nine respectively.

Sharrocks was later bowled by Singh who finished on 4-42.

With the game evenly poised, Fleetwood required one run to win.

However, Miller held his nerve and trapped James Amor LBW with Fleetwood finishing on the same total as Kendal.

Kendal next face Leyland on Saturday.
