A PROPOSAL to install a perimeter fence around a section of a business park to improve its security has been given the green light.

South Lakeland District Council has approved plans submitted by Marl Business Park in Ulverston to build a perimeter fence around the currently open boundaries at Morecambe Road and replace its ‘unsightly’ and ‘outdated’ fencing at Watery Lane.

According to the plans, new security gates will also be provided at entrances to the site so the business park can be secured out of hours.

The proposal also sets out plans to bring the parking area, which includes 125 spaces, within the secured fenced area.

The plans state that the new fencing will comprise of a two metre high proprietary welded mesh panel security fence system, with a powder coat finish in a dark grey colour.

According to the plans, the new measures will mean the site will be ‘secured’ and ‘more easily controlled’.

It states: “It is the applicant’s intention that this rationalisation work will improve the parking facilities for both staff and visitors.

"It will enable the site to be secured and more easily controlled and will significantly upgrade the site visually, both from within and when viewed externally.”
