CUMBRIAN dancers are being invited to The Lowry’s Centre for Advanced Training in Dance.

Training will take place on June 12, for dancers aged between 11-16 at Newbiggin Hall, Carlise at 9.30am.

Training was originally scheduled to take place at the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal at 12.45am, however this has been cancelled.

Those attending can speak to tutors and students from the scheme which offers fully funded places - and also take part in a workshop.

Clare Fildes, outreach coordinator for the Lowry CAT scheme, said: "Our Cumbrian open day will give young people the chance to experience the range of dance opportunities offered by The Lowry and in their local area.

"The free event will include a fun and challenging technical and creative workshop delivered by our highly accomplished tutors and a chance for students, parents and guardians to find out more about the dance opportunities available to local young people.

"Entry to The Lowry's CAT scheme is through an audition process, although we will look closely at the potential of each student regardless of their previous dance experience.

"We will be looking for those young people who demonstrate exceptional potential, commitment and enthusiasm in dance.

"Students wishing to audition for the CAT are advised to first attend an open day and pick up an application form."

The Centre for Advanced Training in Dance (CAT) at Greater Manchester’s flagship The Lowry arts centre is an intensive, part time, training programme for exceptional young people who aim to pursue a career in dance.
