MOST of us think through a perceived truth just as much as we need to, to feel comfortable.

Take atheistic materialism:

We hear that there’s no God out there, just the physical universe.

“Above us only sky.”

We breathe a sigh of relief that no one's looking judgmentally over our shoulder.

And carry on pretty much as we were doing.

We don't think it through.

We don't realise that if.

“God is dead, and we killed him”.

We lose the foundation for all morality, truth, beauty and meaning in life.

You can still be a “moral” person, most people are.

You can try to work out your own.

“personal” truth – but you have no authority to make anyone else uphold it.

We resort to brute force, bullying.

And the carrot and stick. To make people behave like we want them to.

Christians do the same thing.

We hear things like, “Jesus loves you”, or “Jesus died to save you”. And we think,

“Great!”; breathe a sigh of relief that we can go to heaven when we die; and carry on pretty much as we were doing.

We don't think it through.

We don't realise that if, “Jesus died, and we killed him, but he rose again”.

Then there are implications: Christians are called to pick up a cross and follow Jesus. They're called to die to the world and live for God. There are certain consistencies of behaviour we should have, that we often don't. Will we think things through, wherever it takes us?
