PLANS have been put forward to develop a community hall on the grounds of a church to help provide a hub for residents.
A proposal has been submitted to South Lakeland District Council to develop a a community hall within the grounds of St Thomas’ Church in Crosscrake.
The hall, which would include toilet facilities and a new kitchen and servery space, will remain separate from the church building.
According to the design and access statement, the community hall is for the 'betterment of the community'.
It states: "The intentions for the project are for the betterment of the community - to provide a hub for the residents of the area and for people from further afield to have a space that can be used for varying purposes. The new development is a separate, individually functioning building that has an entry canopy to provide sheltered entry to the new build in order to provide users of the church ease of access.
"The design has been carefully considered so as to contrast the design of the church but still be sympathetic to the surrounding vernacular."
