'THIS behaviour will not be tolerated', insists Cumbria Police who are investigating a report of people cutting down trees for fire wood.

Police are investigating an incident of criminal damage that occurred at around 6.45am on Saturday, at Wastwater, Wasdale.

It was reported that a group of people, who were reported to be drinking, were cutting down trees to use for fire wood.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Police would like to advise, to those who are travelling to Wasdale and other areas of the Lake District, that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and action will be taken against those who damage the land.
