A WOMAN who harassed two of her neighbours in the middle of the night has been sentenced.

Tara Ann Green was hauled before South Cumbria Magistrates' Court after she knocked on their doors in the early hours of the morning.

She had previously been jailed for harassing one of the neighbours and made the subject of a restraining order.

The court was told told Green breached that order by banging on the door of 82-year-old neighbour Elizabeth Harper at the Ulverston building where they live on April 24.

Prosecutor Lee Dacre said: "The defendant was made the subject of a restraining order which protected Ms Harper from ongoing harassment.

"On April 24 between 1am and 3am she was banging on her neighbour's front door, shouting and swearing.

"It made the victim feel scared due to the ongoing harassment.

"She heard the defendant dragging a large object.

"When she looked at the communal area there was a mattress outside.

"The defendant also disturbed another neighbour, Barbara Steele. She was woken up at 2.30am by the defendant banging loudly on her door."

The neighbour asked Green to stop but was met with abuse, the court heard.

"That caused Ms Steele to feel unsettled and distressed," Mr Dacre said.

Green's solicitor Michael Graham said: "Before 2020 she was of previous good character.

"Something happened that led to an implosion of her mental and physical wellbeing."

He said social isolation during lockdown had also affected her mental state.

"She can put this bizarre behaviour behind her," he said.

"She's hoping to move forward, engaging with professional bodies.

Green, 51, of Leather Lane in Ulverston, was spent 65 days remanded in custody over the offences.

She denied breaching the order and causing distress but was found guilty after a trial.

Magistrates fined her £50 and told her to complete 25 rehabilitation activity days.
