AN APP that rewards customers with free parking when they spend offline is coming to Kendal this summer.
ParkingPerx, backed by former Dragon of Dragon's Den, Jenny Campbell, aims to boost and reward high street spending.
Motivated to drive city centre recovery, the app is designed to reunite shoppers with their favourite retailers, cafes and independent merchants to breathe life back into our local high street.
Chris Reed, founder and Managing Director at ParkingPerx, said: “We all know that the last 15 months have changed the face of our high streets, as lockdown and localised restrictions have placed further pressure on already dwindling consumer numbers across the country. We developed ParkingPerx to help with this issue even before the pandemic and now it’s more important than ever to generate footfall on our high streets.
“We’ve been out and about in Kendal this summer already and the response from local businesses has been really positive. We’re gearing up to launch here at the end of August and so we’re hosting an event where business owners can find out more about how the app can benefit their business, and ask any questions.”
The app registers what’s spent on a card as customers shops as normal in their town centre, and converts their pounds to Perx which can be used to pay for parking at the end of their trip, or banked for a future trip. Perx can be earned at any participating businesses including shops, cafés, cinemas, bars and professional services.
Merchants will be able to find out more at an event at 19 The Wine Bar, Lowther St, on Jul 22 at 5.30pm. The event will also be streamed as a webinar.
