A SWIMMER has gone missing in Brothers Water in Penrith.

Police, with divers and sniffer dogs and Carlisle West Fire and rescue were called out at about 7pm last night.

A group of people, believed to be in their 30s had been swimming when one went missing.

This is the third water-related incident in Cumbria less than a week.

Police divers are still searching Crummock Water near Buttermere after a 30-year-old man from London went missing on Friday lunchtime.

It is believed he had got into difficulties with a friend who had been rescued from the water.

Tributes were also paid for a Carlisle teenager whose body was found in the River Eden after a multi-agency search operation.

Mohammad Abdul Hamid, known as Hamid, 16, of Barrock Street, Carlisle was identified by police.

Emergency services conducted a search of the river over the weekend when the North West Ambulance Service reported concern for his welfare after he entered the River Eden.

Hamid's school, Richard Rose Central Academy paid tribute to the teenager.
