PRAISE has been given to Kendal’s most recently completed engineering project. Works to repair and reinforce Victoria Bridge in Kendal have now been completed.

The project, which focused on strengthening the bridge supports along with the foundations was delivered by the county council and completed by Story Contracting and cost £745,000.

Cllr Peter Thornton, Deputy Leader of Cumbria County Council and Local Member for Kendal, said: “I’m really pleased that these repair works are now completed.

"Victoria Bridge forms a key part of the road network in Kendal, so it was vital to secure the long-term future of the bridge.

"My thanks to our contractors, the local community, and businesses for their support, patience, and understanding throughout the project.”

The works were done in two phases due to the short window to work ‘in-river’ as advised by Environment Agency.

The first phase was completed last year, with the second phase recently completed.

The council took to social media to thank the local community and businesses for their patience and understanding throughout the works.
