HERE are the latest announcements from our community news correspondent Digby Singleton for Storth.

STORTH Community Cooperative held the AGM for shareholders in the Village Hall on July 19 at 7.30pm.

In her address as chair, Maggie Roberts mentioned that the shop, run entirely by volunteers, had closed from March until September 2020. Much of the stock was given to the local food bank before expiry dates were reached.

Following a refit, the shop reopened with Covid precautions in place in September 2020.

The committee appreciated the continued support by local residents for the shop and Post Office.

It was noted that business was doing well.

The shop has expanded the range of items on sale and now sells a larger range of grocery items, greetings cards (with many by local artists), newspapers and magazines, stationery items and confectionery.

Milk, butter, cheese and dairy items, sausage, bacon and meat, fresh bread and cakes are all supplied by local firms. A dry-cleaning service is also offered.

The Post Office is open weekday mornings for mail items, cheque deposits, cash deposits and withdrawals etc.

Later this year grants will be made available to local organisations and charities that are of benefit to the village.

Forms will be available from the beginning of September for submission by the end of September.

Anyone wishing to volunteer or become a shareholder should leave their details in the shop.
